Beginning
the project was to create a setup that shows what happens in a copier when paper jams the siren goes off. We had to bulid the circuit in multisim and then breadboard.
Circuits
it was hard at first to understand the wiring diagram but once I understood it was easy to build. it was fairly simple to integrate the flip flop once the pins of the ic were known. the purpose of the resistors to limit the current to the phototransistors. the logic circuit is to activate when two adjacent lights are blocked signaling a jam. the purpose of the flip flop is to detect the event and keep the buzzer buzzing until manually reset.
Conclusion
in this project everyone had the same project/problem that needed to be solved the same way which is different from the other projects we have done in the past. We worked in groups this time. we used a buildable apparatus to simulate the problem. I learned how to use phototransistors. how to incorporate physical simulations into breadboarding. how to use the flip flop ic
