step 1
need to extract crude oil or other oils from renewable sources
step 2 process
most hoses are made of Polyurethane, the chemistry is complex, but the basics are relatively easy to understand. Polyurethanes are formed by reacting a polyol (an alcohol with more than two reactive hydroxyl groups per molecule) with a diisocyanate or a polymeric isocyanate in the presence of suitable catalysts and additives. The polyol is made by going through a process which involves glycerol initiator is added to a reaction vessel along with PO and, in some cases, some EO. Under the influence of heat, pressure and catalyst the oxides are reacted with the initiator, producing the polyol
step 3 manufacture
put materials through rollers to flatten. then cut into strips. rolled into a coil around a pipe. then add another layer of 2nd material. then coating or top layer. heated to make the hose then treated.,
step 4 use
it is used for irrigation of small gardens and lawns.
step 5 dispose
can be reused for putting over handels and chains for easier use and can be put through rope to make it stronger.
conclusions
1: it is meant by how a product is made used and disposed of.
2: to see how it will be used and a good way to dispose of the product.
3: i personnally like the fabric hoses that curl up when here is no water in them and they are much lighter and there is no plastic
4:i think it will continue to evolve just like the fabric one which evolves from the rubber and plastic ones\
5: when you give something up to get something else
6:yes i think weight was made more by strength
7: to save valuable resource from the earth.
8: to make a product that is recyclable
9: people who buy products are the ones who need to recycle the products.
10:i can reuse or recycle most things that i purchase
