to make a truss that will hold a significant amount of weight. efficient truss. solve for reactive forces
Generate concepts
the break points are at the weakest joints of the truss
static determincy was used to calculate the reactive forces and force on the members of the truss
we used the max force the truss held to calculate the forces on the truss
Develop a solution
Construct and test prototype
evaluate solution
the large truss is better because it is more efficient and has more break points meaning the force is spread out
present solution
small and large truss
conclusion
when the member broke on the truss it was undergoing the most force of all the members and it was under compression to the calculations
if givin the chance to redesign I would make the truss equal on both sides to maximize the spread of force
